St. Joan of Arc (JM 28) Coffee Mug

St. Joan of Arc, the “Maid of Orleans”, is patron saint of women who serve in the military. In this depiction, her military career is emphasized. St. Joan is clad in contemporary 15th-century plate armor and shoulders a sword in a scabbard ornamented with fleur di lis. The fleur di lis, a stylized lily, is a motif rich in heraldic, political, and religious significance.
